Check out these real world, hands-on ways I have helped customers find the best mix of convenience and secure remote support. For a free, no obligation, on-site presentation of how new remote support tools, including TeamViewer and Windows Remote Desktop can reduce your support-related downtime, call John at 772-913-5433.

Brandt's Appliance Service: Use PPTP, IPSEC VPN, and Remote Desktop to administer systems during non-business hours and unobtrusively during business hours, and TeamViewer to provide rapid and cost-effective support during business hours.
First United Methodist Church of Brevard (North Carolina): Use IPSEC VPN and Remote Desktop to administer systems during non-business hours and unobtrusively during business hours, and TeamViewer to provide rapid and cost-effective support during business hours and for non-RDP-capable systems.
Pisgah Pest Control: Use PPTP, IPSEC VPN, and Remote Desktop to administer systems during non-business hours and unobtrusively during business hours, and TeamViewer to provide rapid and cost-effective support during business hours and for non-RDP-capable systems.
Transylvania Vocational Services:Use PPTP, IPSEC VPN, and Remote Desktop to administer systems during non-business hours and unobtrusively during business hours. Setup PPTP access in router for local and remote employees to avoid exposing a server to the internet.
Western Carolina Tool & Mold:Use PPTP, IPSEC VPN, and Remote Desktop to administer systems during non-business hours and unobtrusively during business hours. Imaged a Windows server, replaced RAID drives, and rebuilt system on new drives, with minimal on-site support.

I am currently using a Zyxel USG 20 VPN router that sells for about $150,and provides IPSEC SHA-1/AES256 encryption and authentication, and IPSEC/L2TP and SSL, but no PPTP. The Cisco Rv042 and RV180 are both very nice IPSEC and PPTP-capable routers, but I wanted to try the USG 20 object-oriented configuration. For the occasional remote support job, or when the client is not RDP-capable, I use Team Viewer. I never ask you to leave your side running because I do not trust any of the remote support tools to have the client running unattended.
